Background
FORMATION
The Australasian Universities Risk & Insurance Management Society (AURIMS) is a forum for those involved in the management of risk and insurance in the higher education sector; it is designed to share experiences and offer solutions to common issues. It was formed in 1999 out of the Victorian Universities Insurance Group, established in 1995 to discuss common insurance and risk management issues on a regular basis.
AURIMS is a society – it is not a company, an incorporated body or anything more formally constituted than a group of like-minded individuals with day jobs! It exists for those who work in risk management, business continuity, disaster recovery and insurance in their respective University, TAFE or Institute of Technology. Members come from around 50 institutions across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

We need people to be involved for it to remain relevant and ensure long term sustainability. Without you – the risk and insurance personnel – AURIMS will become redundant.
MEETINGS
An annual meeting is held in conjunction with the AURIMS Conference, usually in May of each year. If any university is interested in hosting a quarterly meeting, please contact the AURIMS President (see the Executive section). There are no joining or annual members fees.

COMMUNICATIONS
Members can email each other - or all members - from the secure member section. However, a secure listserv function is not a feature of this website. Listserv's are a useful way for members to post a question and raise issues with other university people in a confidential space. A problem experienced by one member may have already been experienced by another member; learning how the matter was addressed can be beneficial in determining the best approach to take.
To get around the lack of a secure or confidential site for discussions, an AURIMS Listserv was set up many years ago; it was hosted by LaTrobe initially, and Adelaide University now.
**These mail lists double as a means of communicating about the annual conferences, news and any other notices.
