Constitution

The objectives of the Australasian Universities Risk & Insurance Management Society are embedded in the Constitution. 

The objectives are to: 

  1. Foster and promote the exchange of information relating to insurance, risk management, business continuity and disaster recovery affecting universities and tertiary education generally. 
  2. Develop and maintain interest in continuous improvement of the principles and practices of insurance, risk management, business continuity and disaster recovery in universities and tertiary education generally.
  3. Foster the educational and professional development of members in matters relating to insurance, risk management, business continuity and disaster recovery affecting universities and other tertiary education institutions.

The Annual General Meeting held in Adelaide on 15 May 2014 approved a number of amendments. Some of the changes were minor. Others included changes to: 

  • Section 6.2 - Removal of “Renewal of Associate Membership” status.
  • Section 8 - Change of wording to outline the task of Register of Members.
  • Section 10 – resignation handover to include administration of the website and other online platforms.
  • Section 13.2 – Transition of Vice President to President to be at the discretion of the officer involved in the first instance.
  • Section 13.4 – Role of Secretary to include maintaining a register of members on the website.
  • Section 13.5 – minor change in role of Knowledge Manager.
  • Section 14 – Election of Executive Committee. Change section 14.3 to allow for extension of a role on the Executive if there is no nomination after the mandated time period and the incumbent and membership is happy to continue in this role then the incumbent can continue on a year to year basis.
  • Section 15 – multiple roles for executive.
  • Section 15.6 – potential for dissolution of Society if executive cannot be constituted.
  • Section 19 – Availability of meeting minutes and need to document Executive meetings.
